Lisa Stark creates fine art and lives her life on the beaches of Santa Cruz. She also writes software. Because of her passion for both escaping outdoors and coding complex computer systems, Lisa explores the world through two lenses, both analog and digital. Her acrylic and multimedia works fluidly blend her vision for the aesthetic and analytical, fusing organic and geometric elements.

Refuse Lyre
Janet was a dancer in her earlier life. She has a B.A. in Art History/Dance from the University of California Riverside and a M.F.A. in Dance from Mills College, Oakland, California. She performed in the Bay Area for many years until moving to beautiful Santa Cruz, California. As an avid treasure hunter she finally found her art form in Assemblage and Mixed Media. In using salvaged, found, recycled materials to create work she has come to love the process of design and construction. She is a Santa Cruz Open Studios artist and has been showing her work at various venues throughout Santa Cruz County. Janet takes what would end up in landfill and reshapes it into art. Each piece is one of a kind; unique in the relationship of the elements to each other and to the vision she creates. Janet holds one-day workshops at her home. She calls them creative spa days.

My artwork has come from memories of summers spent leaping and diving, doing cannonballs and back flips, participating in breath holding contests and looking up through chlorine filtered sunlight daydreaming. In water, we become weightless, buoyant and free both in mind and body. As a competitive swimmer and Psychologist for most of my life, these are elements I consciously integrate into my work. Using found objects, paint and photographs, I create nostalgic paintings of the past I carry with me into the present.

Penniman was a well-known plein air watercolorist who taught him at an early age how to use a brush to interpret the world. Eventually, it would save his life.
